ALERT STEEL RELAUNCHES FLAGSHIP STORE

Pretoria, 1 July 2011 – Alt-X listed Alert Steel today relaunched its flagship branch in East Lynne, Pretoria, as part of the company’s plan to return to profitability by refocusing on its core business of retailing steel and steel-related products. Known as the HUB, the store sports the company’s new branding, its retail floor space has been extended substantially and it has also expanded its product range, including the introduction of a new line of castings, fasteners, the latest precision and engineering tools and one of the largest ranges of welding products and plasma cutters in the market. In addition, the store will offer new value-added services such as twisting, rolling and bending of castings on site and to customers’ exact specifications. In terms of steel products, the HUB will offer all steel profiles across the range with improvements and extensions of specific lines such as special steel. This wrought steel caters to all engineering requirements within the company’s targeted retail areas making Alert Steel the ideal link between steel producers and end users.

“Our fencing and roofing departments have been expanded and we will offer ranges at competitive prices. We will also specialise in residential and commercial electronic security solutions and will stock products from suppliers such as Stafix, Paradox, IDS and digitech. The intention is to offer a one-stop-shop for both end users and contractors and we will also provide in-house technical advice and training,” says CEO Johan du Toit.

The HUB will serve as a central distribution point to all its other stores. Alert branches are located in Brits, Klerksdorp, Tshwane, Burgersfort, Lephalale, Polokwane, Tzaneen, Louis Trichardt, Thohoyandou, Mokopane, Lichtenburg, Wonderboom, Benrose, and Randfontein.

“We are determined to be the leader in the steel retail market and the new look of our stores and product range will carry this message across to our customers,” says du Toit. “The layout of all our stores will be based on the HUB’s retail area and we will be adding the current product portfolio as well as offering value-added services to all our stores.”
